Freedom Equipment Rentals is a locally owned and operated equipment rental company looking for an experienced Road / Shop Service Technician to join our team in Pasco, WA.
Our technicians are responsible for keeping our rental fleet safe, reliable, and ready for our customers. This position combines shop-based equipment repair and maintenance with mobile service calls at customer job sites. You'll work on everything from small tools and lawn equipment to excavators, skid steers, scissor lifts, compactors, generators, and other construction equipment.
Freedom Equipment Rentals serves homeowners and contractors throughout the region, from small residential projects to major construction sites. Our technicians play an important role in making sure our customers have dependable equipment when they need it.
We are looking for someone who is mechanically minded, enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems, can work independently, and takes pride in doing quality work.
Job Description
As a Road / Shop Service Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of rental equipment. You will work both in our shop and at customer job sites using a company-provided service vehicle.
Typical work may include:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues
- Performing preventive maintenance and routine service
- Oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and other scheduled maintenance
- Troubleshooting and repairing small engines and larger diesel equipment
- Inspecting equipment for safe operation
- Operating equipment to diagnose and verify repairs
- Using diagnostic equipment, service manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot problems
- Traveling to customer job sites to inspect and repair equipment
- Communicating with customers regarding equipment issues and repairs
- Completing work orders and parts requests accurately
- Prioritizing repairs and communicating equipment needs with the Service Manager
- Assisting with equipment loading/unloading when needed
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area
- Assisting other members of the service, rental, and yard teams when needed
- Performing other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- 1+ years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment, vehicles, small engines, or similar mechanical systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with construction equipment, rental equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive, or small engines is a plus
- Ability to diagnose problems and determine the appropriate repair
- Ability to read and understand basic electrical/hydraulic schematics and service information
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Must provide and maintain your own basic mechanic's tools
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and stay organized
- Ability to prioritize multiple repairs and manage time effectively
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required
- Must be willing to assist with other areas of the operation when needed
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Road Service
A significant part of this position involves responding to equipment service calls at customer job sites.
Technicians will use a company-provided service vehicle and will be expected to:
- Safely travel to and from customer locations
- Diagnose equipment problems in the field
- Perform repairs whenever possible on-site
- Communicate professionally with customers
- Determine when equipment requires additional shop repairs or parts
- Safely operate and test equipment following repairs
- Maintain the service vehicle, tools, and equipment in an organized condition
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position works both indoors and outdoors and will involve varying weather conditions and temperatures.
The position requires:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, climbing, and crawling
- Working around operating equipment and potential hazards
- Occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 50+ lbs.
- Working in confined or difficult-to-access areas of equipment
- Wearing required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and safety footwear
- Following all company safety policies and procedures

Pay: $25.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Occasional overtime/weekends as needed
