Holt Plumbing Company, LLC is a family-owned, full-service plumbing company that has proudly served Middle Tennessee for nearly 40 years. We provide residential and commercial plumbing services throughout the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area and have built our reputation on quality workmanship, professional service, and treating our customers fairly.
Our work goes well beyond basic plumbing service. Our technicians handle everything from everyday repairs and installations to complex troubleshooting, electronic leak detection, drain and sewer diagnostics, camera inspections, hydro-jetting, underground water line repairs, commercial plumbing systems, and larger plumbing projects.
We are currently looking for an experienced Electronic Leak Detection & Plumbing Repair Technician to join our team.
This is a specialized field position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems. The right candidate will be capable of locating difficult-to-find water leaks using professional electronic leak detection equipment and, importantly, will also have the plumbing knowledge and hands-on ability to repair the problems they find.
Position Overview
This position will focus heavily on diagnosing and locating concealed and underground water leaks in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
You may be dispatched to properties experiencing unexplained water usage, high water bills, suspected underground leaks, water surfacing outside, pressure loss, concealed leaks inside buildings, or other situations where the source of the problem is not immediately apparent.
The job does not end when the leak is located.
We are looking for someone with enough plumbing and mechanical experience to evaluate the entire situation, determine the appropriate repair, communicate those findings professionally, and perform plumbing repairs when appropriate.
When leak detection work is not scheduled, this position may also assist with general plumbing service, water line repairs, troubleshooting, installations, and other plumbing work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform electronic leak detection on residential and commercial water systems
- Diagnose concealed, underground, and difficult-to-locate water leaks
- Use professional electronic listening, acoustic, pressure testing, locating, and other diagnostic equipment
- Isolate plumbing systems and individual lines to narrow down the source of water loss
- Perform pressure tests and other diagnostic procedures
- Evaluate water usage, meter activity, system pressure, visible conditions, and other information to develop a logical diagnostic plan
- Accurately identify and mark suspected leak locations
- Determine appropriate repair options after a leak has been located
- Excavate and expose underground water lines when necessary
- Repair underground and above-ground water leaks
- Repair and replace water service lines, valves, fittings, PRVs, piping, and other plumbing components
- Perform general plumbing service and repair work when needed
- Work with copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and other common plumbing materials
- Communicate findings and repair recommendations clearly and professionally to customers, property managers, and our office team
- Thoroughly document testing procedures, findings, leak locations, job-site conditions, and repairs
- Take photographs and maintain accurate job documentation
- Safely operate company vehicles, plumbing equipment, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment
- Maintain and care for leak detection equipment and other company-provided tools
- Follow applicable plumbing codes, safety requirements, and company standards
- Take ownership of assigned calls from diagnosis through completion
What We're Looking For
This position requires someone who is patient, analytical, mechanically inclined, and comfortable troubleshooting problems that may not have an obvious answer.
We are looking for a technician who understands that successful leak detection involves more than simply putting headphones on and listening for a leak. The right person will understand plumbing systems well enough to determine where water lines are likely located, isolate different portions of a system, interpret the information available to them, and methodically narrow down the source of a problem.
A strong candidate will have:
- Professional plumbing service and repair experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Experience repairing water lines and plumbing leaks
- Understanding of residential and commercial water distribution systems
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Ability to perform plumbing repairs after diagnosing the problem
- Experience working with common plumbing piping materials and fittings
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and professional plumbing equipment
- Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Ability to perform physical work including walking properties, digging, lifting, kneeling, and accessing difficult areas
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Good documentation and organizational habits
- Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to a commercial insurance carrier
Experience That Will Put You at the Top of Our List
Previous electronic leak detection experience is a major plus.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience involving:
- Electronic/acoustic leak detection equipment
- Underground water leak detection
- Pressure testing and system isolation
- Water service line repairs and replacements
- Underground plumbing repairs
- Commercial plumbing troubleshooting
- PRVs, valves, meters, and domestic water systems
- Slab or concealed water leak diagnosis
- Sewer cameras and locating equipment
- Hydro-jetting and drain/sewer diagnostics
- General residential and commercial service plumbing
Previous leak detection experience is highly desirable, but we are also interested in experienced service plumbers with exceptional troubleshooting skills who are interested in developing additional expertise in electronic leak detection.
Why Holt Plumbing?
At Holt Plumbing, you will have the opportunity to develop and use skills that go beyond routine plumbing service.
Leak detection is an important and growing part of our operation, and we are looking for someone who wants to become highly proficient in this specialty while still utilizing their plumbing experience in the field.
You will be joining an established, family-owned company with nearly four decades in the plumbing industry, a diverse residential and commercial customer base, experienced office and dispatch support, and access to professional equipment and resources.
Our technicians encounter a wide variety of work, which means you won't spend every day performing the exact same repair. One day may involve locating an underground water leak across a commercial property, while another may involve repairing a water service, diagnosing an unusual pressure problem, or assisting with another complex plumbing issue.
We value technicians who can think through problems, work independently, communicate professionally, take care of our customers, and take pride in finding the correct solution rather than simply taking the easiest path.
If you are an experienced plumbing professional who enjoys troubleshooting, diagnostic work, and solving the problems that other people have difficulty finding, we would like to hear from you.
Apply today and tell us about your plumbing experience, troubleshooting background, and any experience you have with electronic leak detection, underground water lines, locating equipment, sewer cameras, or other diagnostic equipment.
