Position Summary
Join Inner Valor as an Event Security Officer and help deliver the polished, hospitality-driven safety and guest experience that distinguishes our team.
We are seeking dependable professionals for weekend, evening, and special-event assignments. Schedules are based on client and event needs, so weekly hours and work locations may vary. Most assignments require extended periods of standing and shifts lasting 8–12+ hours.
The Event Security Officer position primarily supports assignments in the Western and Northern Chicago suburbs. Candidates may live in Chicago or the suburbs; selection is based on the ability to report reliably and punctually to the listed assignment areas.
Because some event locations and reporting times are not readily accessible by public transportation, regular access to a reliable vehicle is required for this position. Officers normally commute directly to one designated event location per shift and are not routinely required to drive between posts.
Officers who consistently demonstrate dependable attendance, punctuality, scheduling responsiveness, professional appearance, sound judgment, and Inner Valor’s white-glove service may receive priority consideration for more consistent schedules or regular account placement. Placement is based on performance and business needs and is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute access control duties, including identification checks, credential verification, and restricted-area enforcement, with consistency and professionalism
- Conduct bag checks, guest screenings, and handheld or walk-through metal detector procedures in accordance with event protocols
- Remain visible, alert, and actively engaged throughout the assigned shift
- Monitor large crowds and identify potential safety, security, or guest-service concerns before they escalate
- Support safe and orderly guest movement at entrances, exits, screening areas, and restricted locations
- Use calm, clear communication and appropriate de-escalation techniques when addressing concerns
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and emergency conditions
- Follow supervisor instructions, radio procedures, post orders, and incident-reporting requirements
- Confirm accepted assignments promptly and report to each assignment prepared, in the required uniform, and by the stated reporting time
- Represent Inner Valor with a polished, respectful, and customer-focused presence at all times

Minimum Qualifications:
- 18+ years old with a high school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle
- Ability to commute directly and punctually to varying event locations throughout the western and northern Chicago suburbs
- Ability to report to assignments that may begin or end when public transportation is limited
- Regular availability for Friday evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and special events
- Ability to work extended shifts of 8–12+ hours
- Ability to respond promptly to scheduling communications and confirm accepted assignments by the stated deadline
- Strong verbal communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills
- Comfort working indoors or outdoors in crowded, noisy, and fast-moving environments
- Ability to perform the essential physical responsibilities described below, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to obtain and maintain all credentials required for assigned security work
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and other job-related screening required by company policy and applicable law
Officers generally report directly to one designated event location per shift. This position does not ordinarily require driving between locations during the shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Illinois PERC card and documented completion of 20-hour Basic Security Training
- At least one year of experience in event security, venue security, hospitality, customer service, military service, law enforcement, or a related field
- Experience with access control, credential verification, bag checks, metal-detector screening, crowd management, patrol, or incident response
- Experience using two-way radios and completing clear, accurate incident reports
- Availability to accept assignments across multiple suburban service areas
- Ability to accept occasional short-notice or difficult-to-fill assignments
- Current CPR, AED, or First Aid certification
- Previous team-lead, supervisor, or high-responsibility post experience
- A verifiable record of dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional performance
Candidates who do not currently hold a PERC may still apply. Inner Valor will provide guidance on the application and training process; employment and assignment eligibility remain subject to company and State of Illinois requirements.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
This role requires sustained physical presence, environmental adaptability, and continuous alertness in dynamic event settings. Responsibilities include:
- Remaining on your feet for extended periods (8–12+ hours), including standing, walking, and active monitoring
- Working outdoors for prolonged durations in varying weather conditions (heat, sun, wind, rain, and other environmental factors)
- Operating effectively in crowded, high-noise environments, including entry points and screening areas
- Maintaining constant situational awareness, attention to detail, and focus throughout the duration of the shift
- Communicating clearly and effectively with guests and team members in fast-paced and sometimes stressful conditions
- Navigating dense crowds, restricted areas, stairs, and uneven terrain as required by the event site
- Responding quickly to incidents, including rapid movement over short distances when necessary
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds
