The adaptive physical education teacher will provide direct services to students with disabilities, including but not limited to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.Responsibilities Include: Designs and directs adaptive physical education classesPrepares relevant gross motor and gym class materialsAdapts activities and equipment to meet the unique needs of each studentProvides instruction on motor skills, fitness, and overall physical developmentCollaborates with classroom teachers and other related service providers to support student progressParticipates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensurePreferred Skills: Experience with adaptive and mobility equipmentExperience with behavior management/de-escalation strategiesMinimum Requirements: Bachelors DegreeBachelors Degree in Physical Education preferredValid Physical Education PreK-8 License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferredCertification by the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) preferredReports To: Building principal and special education team administratorDirector of Special Education & Special Education Coordinator$125.00 per day, $150.00 per day after 20 consecutive days
