POSITION: Maintenance Technician
STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Environmental Operations
REPORTS TO: Environmental Operations Manager
POSITION CONCEPT:
To Serve the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc., by maintaining and operating all facets of building and ground systems for Ruth Eckerd Hall including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, irrigation and minor electrical maintenance. Shift assignments at any of the three venues are possible for this position.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Perform carpentry work, electrical, welding, painting and plumbing duties as required.
- Proactively report to management any potential maintenance issues.
- Procure related maintenance supplies as needed within budgetary limits.
- Assist with maintenance and service of company vehicles.
- Move assigned equipment, furniture, appliances, etc.
- Support the development and implementation of cost-effective approaches.
- Oversee work done by outside service providers as directed.
- Execute work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop.
- Comply with company safety policies and OSHA safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Maintain a mode of communication to contact in case of emergency.
- Maintain a courteous and respectful demeanor with co-workers, vendors and patrons.
- Professionally represent Ruth Eckerd Hall at all times.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Demonstrated success in maintenance work, preferably in a large facility environment.
Demonstrated Skills or Knowledge:
- General skills in carpentry, electrical, welding, painting and plumbing.
- Working knowledge of the proper operation, maintenance and repair of a physical plant.
- Basic skills in use of email, internet and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to learn and use maintenance tracking software.
- Ability to multi-task and be successful in a high volume fast paced environment.
- Ability to listen and communicate information and ideas verbally and effectively.
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense for a given situation.
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people, work within a team environment, and develop and maintain positive working relationships.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined or high spaces.
- Ability to perform required tasks that include bending, twisting, lifting, etc. safely.
- Ability to operate a computer terminal.
- Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to access all areas of the facility.
- Ability to work outdoors in various climates.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to maintain good attendance.
Other:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to commute to all three venues.
- Successful completion of a background check, drug screen and physical test.
