American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a day shift position requiring 2 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Work on a Medical Surgical unit (2W) within a hospital setting
-
Patient ratio of 1:5
-
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
-
4/4 week schedule with weekend requirements: available for 4 of 8 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for day shift)

Floating required to 3W and other units as needed
-
Active TX or compact RN license required
-
Required certifications: BLS
-
Preferred certifications: ACLS, PALS, CPI

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Charting system experience required (any system)
-
Skills needed include respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, oxygen administration), IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, PICC line management, GI care (bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy, feeding tubes), GU/renal care (CBI, renal failure), neuro/psych care (CVA, substance withdrawal), medication administration (Heparin, PCA), wound care/wound vac, and cardiac monitoring

Preferred experience in MS/Tele, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, thyroidectomy, telemetry remote monitoring, rapid response/code team involvement, and central line blood draws

Deliver compassionate, team-oriented care in a Medical Surgical unit

Provide care to patients requiring a broad range of medical-surgical interventions including respiratory, GI, GU, neurological, and cardiac monitoring support

Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
-
Candidates should avoid any substances that could result in a positive drug screen after clearance, including CBD products

Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays

Facility housing available

Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Travel pairs considered on a case-by-case basis

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

RTO requests should generally be kept under 7-10 days and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; RTO must be factored into overall contract length
