Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled mobile Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse machinery including farm equipment, industrial machinery, and commercial trucks, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts, and wheel alignments.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex issues across various equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and power tools.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and other fabrication techniques.
- Operate heavy machinery safely during repairs or testing procedures.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for assembly and disassembly tasks.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety regulations and quality standards.
- Assist with equipment inspections to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
- Support customer service efforts by providing professional communication regarding repair status and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment repair background preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately.
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication techniques, and use of hand tools or power tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions.
- Valid driver’s license preferred; relevant certifications such as ASE or manufacturer-specific training are a plus. This position requires a dedicated professional committed to quality workmanship and safety standards while providing exceptional service in maintaining critical equipment.
