Under the direction of the HVAC Supervisor performs supervised repair work. Work requires contact with the public. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains and repairs existing HVAC systems.

Maintains and repairs condensers, evaporator coils, air handlers/gas furnaces, air ducts, refrigerant lines, vent hoods, and bathroom exhaust fans.

Will be responsible for removing old systems and installing new systems.

Will be responsible for running new piping and ducts to existing units.

Will construct interior furnishings such as utility cabinets and storage shelves, and lay out carpentry and masonry materials.

Interprets construction plans, sketches, or other specifications; determine requirements, types, dimensions, and quantities of materials required.

Will fabricate building material to construction plans and specifications.

Will prepare and maintain all proper documentation that is required by local, state, and government regulations to include all EPA requirements.

Will ensure proper horizontal and vertical alignment, grout and shape joints.

Will adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and install all HVAC systems as recommended by manufactures specifications.

Maintain in good working order heating, plumbing, and electrical appliances and fixtures as related to HVAC systems.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) months previous experience utilizing the methods, materials and equipment used in various phases of HVAC operations to include plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Must be EPA certified.
2. Required - Must hold a valid Texas Driver License and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record. May operate Authority vehicle while on Housing Authority business.
3. Required - Ability to work hours other than 8-5 in variable weather conditions and overtime as required meeting Housing Authority goals and objectives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Good working knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods used in repair work.

Ability to operate circular saws, reciprocating saw, drill, recovery machine (Freon), vacuum pump, manifold gauges, psychrometer, tubing cutters, and an assortment of other refrigerant hand tools.

Good working knowledge of safety hazards, and precautions pertinent to this position.

Ability to maintain and repair all equipment that is utilized.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Routinely may be required to exert considerable physical effort in moving and carrying heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds, such as condenser units, air handlers/furnaces and refrigerators. Ability to work, move, walk, stand, and bend for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours); with occasional climbing, kneeling, stooping, reaching at, below, and/or above shoulder height, pushing, pulling, and carrying, required. Ability to work under variable weather conditions.
