Knowledge and experience in the following would be expected of a qualified applicant:
1. 4-year engineering degree required. Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil engineering preferred.
2. Power utility engineering background is preferred
3. Professional engineer preferred but not required. However, the individual must be willing to achieve a professional engineering license in the State of Texas in a reasonable amount of time.
4. Application of standard 3-phase calculations
5. Spatial awareness and a strong mind for geometry
6. Construction background including but not limited to:
a. Foundations, concrete and mix designs.
b. Familiarity with the NESC, NEC, and IEEE standards
c. Ability to read steel assembly drawings
d. Conduit and trenching
e. Conductor and pipe bus applications
f. Application of wiring methods and NEC requirements
g. Grounding methods – knowledge of IEEE80 would be a plus
h. Knowledge of protective relaying would be a plus
7. High voltage and medium voltage equipment specifications and evaluations
8. Construction and project management
9. Good oral and written communication skills
10. Teamwork oriented but able to work alone.
11. Office and field work required. Working from home is not an option.
12. Work well under pressure
13. Willing to put in the time necessary to complete a design/job on time
14. Ability to accurately keep track of time
a. Punctual to work, lunch breaks, and end of workday.
We can train someone for the items above, but the pay would be commensurate with the perceived knowledge and experience.
