Pitango Bakery is looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to help lead daily service in our bakery café. This is a hands-on floor leadership position for someone who enjoys being in the middle of service, supporting the team, guiding the guest experience, and making sure every product leaves the café to standard.
The Assistant Manager will work directly on the café floor each day, leading by example through hospitality, urgency, cleanliness, and attention to detail. This role is responsible for helping the team execute proper food specs, coffee and bar standards, pastry presentation, guest service, and daily shift flow.
We are looking for a working assistant manager who is comfortable jumping behind the bar, supporting counter service, running food, checking plates, coaching team members in real time, and making sure guests feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they walk in.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead daily café service from the floor with a strong hands-on presence
- Support the General Manager in running organized, hospitality-focused shifts
- Ensure food, pastry, coffee, Pizza alla Pala, and café items are served to Pitango specs
- Check product presentation, portioning, plating, and overall quality throughout service
- Coach team members in real time on service standards, food specs, cleanliness, and guest interaction
- Keep the café guest-ready, stocked, clean, and organized throughout the day
- Support barista service and café beverage standards as needed
- Help manage the flow of service during busy periods
- Communicate clearly with BOH and FOH teams to keep production and service aligned
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism, kindness, and urgency
- Assist with opening, closing, shift transitions, and daily checklists
- Support inventory organization, product rotation, waste control, and daily prep communication
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times
- Set the tone for positive teamwork, accountability, and hospitality every shift
What we are looking for:
- Previous café, bakery, restaurant, barista, or food service leadership experience
- A hands-on leader who wants to work the floor, not manage from the sidelines
- Strong understanding of hospitality and guest experience
- Experience with food specs, quality control, portioning, plating, or production oversight
- Barista or coffee bar experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coach in the moment
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and positive during busy service
- High standards for cleanliness, product quality, and team presentation
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable holding standards
- Team-first attitude with a commitment to quality and hospitality
Requirements:
- Full-time availability
- Nights, weekends and holiday availability required
- Prior café, bakery, restaurant, or barista leadership experience required
- Food safety certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification
- Ability to stand and work actively on the floor for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed

Compensation:
Full-time salaried position. Salary based on experience.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,500.00 per year
