Job Overview
Join our compassionate team as a Live-In Caregiver in a personal care home, where you’ll play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents requiring personalized care. This position involves working from Sunday at 7 PM to Friday at 7 PM, with the flexibility to take one day off during the week and 12 hours of personal time. We’re also seeking weekend coverage every other weekend from Friday at 7 PM to Sunday at 7 PM, rotating between two caregivers. Private room accommodations will be provided during your shifts.
In this role, you will care for both independent and dependent residents, ensuring they receive comprehensive support tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, part-time shift options are available to assist with meal preparation and direct daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Daily Living: Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs and observing any changes or concerns.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for privacy and safety.
- Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals based on dietary requirements, including meal planning and cooking.
- Mobility Assistance: Utilize specialized equipment (e.g., Hoyer lifts or transfer belts) to safely assist residents with mobility challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of care activities, observations, and progress to meet healthcare standards.
- Cognitive Support: Provide assistance to residents with cognitive impairments (such as Alzheimer’s or dementia) using memory care techniques and engaging activities.
- Housekeeping Duties: Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and laundry, to ensure a safe and welcoming living environment.
- Care Plan Collaboration: Work with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance residents’ mental well-being.
- Safety Protocols: Follow all safety protocols, including CPR, first aid, and emergency procedures, to ensure resident safety.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in personal care homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is required for all positions.
- CNA License: A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license is preferred but not required for all positions.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Certifications: CPR, first aid, and HIPAA compliance certifications are highly desirable.
- Specialized Care: Experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer’s, or dementia is a plus.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform safe heavy lifting when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate Attitude: A genuine desire to enhance residents’ quality of life is essential.
- Transportation: A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred for travel between client locations.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts as needed.
