position overview
The Dale House Cafe Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring visitors receive exceptional customer service at the Dale House Cafe. The main responsibilities of the Assistant Manager include acting as manager on duty, training and managing staff, overseeing inventory, and tracking sales.
essential functions
- Serving as manager on duty. MOD responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Opening Dale House by following standard opening procedures
- Overseeing daily operations at the Dale House and making sure they have the necessary resources for the day
- Being aware of groups, events, programs, weather, and other situations that may arise and affect the workplace. Maintain flexibility in managing appropriate responses to each as necessary
- Closing Dale House by following standard closing procedures
Maintain a high standard of professionalism while supporting Dale House operations. Duties include:
- Maintaining inventory accuracy by performing inventory audits
- Adjusting on-hand quantities for damaged or expired products
- Drafting purchase orders for resupply of beverages and food items, etc.
- Receiving and processing shipments of resupply products
- Directing associates through correct procedures for storing resupply
- Track sales and create nightly cash deposits
- Secure all cash according to standard procedures
Ensure a positive and memorable experience for visitors through the following:
- Taking an active role in front-line duties to ensure smooth daily operations
- Engaging visitors with a welcoming and efficient point-of-sale service that includes detailed attention to all cafe procedures including conducting sales and preparing beverages and food
- Providing visitors with information on the history of Jamestown, the Dale House, the historical park, our unique public/private partnership, exhibits and artifacts, visitor amenities, and daily tour and program offerings
- Keeping the cafe displays stocked and organized
- Resolving customer concerns escalated above the associate level
Follow all health and food safety standards and requirements per Virginia code, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring all associates have active food handler permits
- Planning, delegating, and executing routine cleaning responsibilities
- Complying with all health and safety standards pertaining to food and beverage preparation and storage
Build a strong team using an entrepreneurial approach and a shared vision of outstanding customer service.
- Modeling exemplary behavior for Dale House Cafe Associates through action
- Following training procedures to properly onboard new associates
- Providing the Director with feedback on Associates’ performance
Provide support to the Director by completing additional tasks as assigned.
Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
