Job Summary
As a Cook, you will work closely with the dietary team to follow dietary guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Your culinary skills and care will enhance the overall well-being and sense of home for our residents in our skilled nursing facility.
Responsibilities
Meal Preparation: Cook meals according to planned menus and specialized diets (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, gluten-free).
Menu Adherence: Follow standardized recipes and portion control procedures to ensure quality.
Kitchen Safety: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with health regulations.
Resident Needs: Adjust recipes to accommodate residents’ dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
Inventory Management: Assist in ordering, stocking, and properly storing food supplies.
Collaboration: Work with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to review menus and address resident concerns.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, portion sizes, and dietary modifications.
Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with food safety standards and best practices.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certification or degree preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting. Experience with special diets is a plus.
Skills: Strong knowledge of food safety, recipe adherence, organizational skills, and excellent communication.
