Job Summary
We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused Heavy Tow Truck Operator with a valid CDL Class A. The ideal candidate has integrity, enjoys helping people during stressful situations, and takes pride in doing the job correctly and safely.
Our heavy-duty operators tow and recover vehicles and equipment weighing 100,000+ pounds. While heavy-duty recoveries are the primary focus, operators will also perform light- and medium-duty towing when heavy work is unavailable.
This position requires participation in our 24 hours a day, 5 days a week with every other weekend off. on-call rotation, with additional overtime opportunities as business demands.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy, medium, and light-duty tow trucks.
- Respond to emergency roadside assistance and recovery calls.
- Transport vehicles and commercial equipment safely to designated locations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Properly secure all vehicles and equipment for transport.
- Hook up and safely chain down commercial trucks and equipment.
- Remove, properly secure (strap up), and reinstall drive shafts (drivelines) when required.
- Connect air lines from the tow truck to the disabled vehicle to ensure safe braking during transport.
- Operate winches, underlifts, wheel lifts, and recovery equipment safely.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately.
- Provide outstanding customer service while representing A+ Towing professionally.
- Handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A (Required)
- Valid Driver's License (Required)
- Valid DOT Medical Certificate
- Previous towing or heavy hauling experience preferred.
- Experience operating heavy wreckers, flatbeds, or recovery equipment preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of commercial vehicles.
- Ability to safely hook, secure, transport, and recover disabled vehicles.
- Ability to remove and reinstall drivelines safely.
- Knowledge of air brake systems and proper air hookups between tow truck and towed vehicle.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift, bend, climb, crawl, and perform physically demanding work.
- Must be available for rotating on-call shifts and occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $4,800.00 - $7,500.00 per month
