Position Summary:
The Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator is responsible for assembling and fitting structural steel components in accordance with project specifications, blueprints and safety standards. This role requires precision, knowledge of welding/fitting techniques and the ability to work collaboratively in a fabrication shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications for structural steel assemblies.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances and alignment of components.
- Fit, assemble and install structural steel components, including beams, columns and other steel structures.
- Work closely with welders and other team members to ensure proper assembly.
- Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Use hoisting, lifting and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with project supervisor to resolve fitting or alignment issues.
- Report any defects, deviations or safety hazards promptly.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a structural steel fitter or similar role in the construction/fabrication industry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and fitting equipment.
- Basic welding knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and fitting.
- Physical stamina.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be punctual and possess a strong work ethic.
Work Environment:
- Fabrication shop.
- Requires use of PPE and adherence to company safety guidelines.
- Requires standing, lifting and moving steel components regularly.
- May involve overtime, weekend work or project-specific schedules.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
