Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Specialist to empower individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities and other challenges to live fulfilling, independent lives. Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
- Support behavioral health needs through positive behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Facilitate communication using skills
- Help individuals participate in community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote independence and social skills
- Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service delivery to ensure effective care planning and reporting
- De-escalate aggressive behaviors using reinforcement techniques as Evershine is a no restraint facility.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other disabilities in home or community settings
- Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health practices
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, team members, and community partners
- Ability to perform caregiving tasks with patience, empathy, and professionalism
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to support positive outcome
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and TB test.
