Part-Time Family Assistant & Driver | New Rochelle, NY
A warm and welcoming family in New Rochelle, NY is seeking a proactive, organized, and dependable Family Assistantto join their household beginning in July/August 2026.
The family has one toddler, is expecting a baby in September 2026, and has one shy cat. They currently employ a part-time nanny who is responsible for the children's daily care and children's laundry. This position is designed to complement the nanny's role by focusing primarily on household support, organization, errands, and family assistant responsibilities, with some childcare support as needed. The family is looking for someone who enjoys creating order, takes initiative, and wants to become a long-term, trusted part of their household.
The schedule is Monday from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM, Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with Thursdays off, for a total of 20 guaranteed hours per week.
Primary responsibilities include maintaining the home's day-to-day organization and cleanliness through light housekeeping such as vacuuming, wiping countertops, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and keeping common areas tidy. The Family Assistant will also be responsible for organizing closets, toys, books, and living spaces, completing the adults' laundry along with towels and bed linens, grocery shopping, restocking household supplies, monitoring inventory of cleaning products, paper goods, and pet supplies, light food preparation such as washing and cutting fruits and vegetables, dry cleaning pick-up and drop-off, USPS/UPS/FedEx returns, and other household errands as needed.
Beginning in September 2026, the role will also include transporting the family's toddler to and from preschool on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. School drop-off is at 9:15 AM and pick-up is at 12:00 PM. The school is located approximately 10 minutes from the family's home in Scarsdale, and the candidate must use their own reliable vehicle for transportation. Childcare support may also be needed during Monday and Friday hours while the family's current nanny is not working.
The family is offering $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include 20 guaranteed hours per week, five paid vacation days, two paid sick days, one paid personal day, paid federal holidays that fall on scheduled workdays, and mileage reimbursement for work-related driving during working hours (commuting to and from the family's home is not reimbursed).
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of Family Assistant, Household Management, or similar experience, along with experience caring for toddlers. Applicants must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently. A valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, experience transporting children, and legal authorization to work in the United States are required. Candidates should also be CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification before starting), up to date on their Tdap and annual flu vaccinations, cat-friendly, dependable, and live within approximately 30 minutes of New Rochelle, NY.
