Responsibilities
- Performs all of the duties required in the trimming and removal of trees, brush and weeds, and in controlling tree, brush and weed growth to obtain proper clearance for all types of utility lines, buildings, fences, grounds, rights-of-way, etc.
- Inspects and climbs trees for the purpose of trimming.
- Cuts and removes trees, stumps, brush, foliage.
- Trims trees and removes tree sections; making and using approved safety slings and lines, securing and arranging ropes for lowering heavy tree sections and limbs.
- Performs these duties by climbing trees and/or from a utility bucket truck.
- Operates and maintains hydraulic and other equipment used to install underground electrical cable.
- Assists line personnel; anticipates and responds to need for equipment and materials.
- Participates in storm and emergency-related assignments.
- Services equipment and facilities.
- Performs other similar and related work as assigned.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- One year's experience as a groundsperson or an equivalent combination of relevant training or experience
- CDL Class A
- Must enroll in a BLP’s Department of Labor Apprentice Tree Trimmer training program and be able to progress through the program at a normal pace as defined by the BLP.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an outdoor field work setting and will require the employee to work in adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Must be physically fit and able to climb, lift, drag and carry 75 pounds, with frequent lifting, dragging, carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $22.95 - $26.37 per hour
