The host and server are the first faces that a customer encounters when they visit Press Coffee + Crepes. We are looking for a candidate who exemplifies what Press stands for and always welcome every guest with a smile and a friendly demeanor. This role requires someone that can effectively manage their time, as well as being goal-oriented and focused on customer satisfaction. Customer engagement is a required task, as you will be interacting with customers throughout their visit. Maintaining focus throughout the shift while prioritizing tasks, utilizing strong time management skills, and being detail-oriented to ensure order and service accuracy are essential to success in this role. Running your tables food and drinks will be required, as is pre-bussing tables during your down time. Just like every position at Press, teamwork is a very important trait and is needed to maintain the position.
It is required that the hostess and server display genuine hospitality to every person that walks through the door as well as making sure that the customer is aware of wait times and protocols if we are on a wait. When the customer is seated, making sure to have a vast knowledge of the menu and the ability to take orders clearly and correctly. High-energy and charisma are required traits as well as a positive attitude. A can-do spirit and menu of the knowledge will be essential to your success. Menu retention is required for position retention. The ability to lift +/- 20 pounds on a regular basis is needed as well as the capability to stand and walk for extended periods of time being required.
A typical day within this position would require many tasks that are essential to a high-functioning restaurant:
-When arriving for your shift, making sure all tables are wiped down and chairs are orderly
-Greeting guests as they enter, and putting them on a waitlist if necessary
-Providing guests with menus as well as answering any initial questions they might have
-Assigning guests at tables they prefer, while keeping notice to table rotation for servers as well as planning for accommodating any large groups
-Introduce yourself to your tables and smile while interacting
-Utilize Toast POS system and/or tablets for taking orders, placing follow up orders and fulfilling any additional guest needs.
-Run drinks and beverages to your tables and call out orders as you pass each item to ensure the correct customer gets the correct product
-Collect payment from customers
-Pre-bus and bus your tables
-Engaging with customers and ensuring that they are happy with their service and food & beverages
-Responding positively to complaints and helping resolve the issue
-Assisting with other positions within the restaurant when needed
-Cleaning restrooms at the end of the shift
We operate a pooled tip share with a minimum of $7 per hour in tip share for a guaranteed hourly wage of your base pay + $7/hr.
