Doggy Daycare Supervisor — Happy Tail Happy Dog Boutique Spa
Happy Tail Happy Dog Boutique Spa is looking for an experienced, confident, and highly dependable Doggy Daycare Supervisor to join our team.
We are a busy, hands-on dog daycare, boarding, grooming, and pet-care business. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a shift, lead a team, communicate professionally with clients, and—most importantly—understand dog behavior and the day-to-day realities of operating a quality dog daycare.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES BOTH:
- Previous supervisory/management experience
- Previous professional doggy daycare experience
Both are required. Please do not apply if you do not have professional dog daycare experience.
Responsibilities
As a supervisor, you will help oversee the daily operation of the daycare and be responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, positive environment for both our dogs and our team.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising, directing, and supporting daycare staff
- Creating and adjusting employee schedules and coordinating daily coverage
- Assigning responsibilities and ensuring tasks are completed properly
- Taking charge of the facility and making sound decisions when owners/management are not present
- Monitoring playgroups and recognizing canine body language, stress signals, inappropriate play, and potential conflicts
- Ensuring dogs are safely grouped according to size, temperament, energy level, and behavior
- Coaching employees on proper dog handling and daycare procedures
- Communicating professionally and warmly with clients
- Handling client questions, concerns, special instructions, and service issues
- Helping oversee feeding, medications, boarding routines, cleaning, and general animal care
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized facility
- Helping train and develop new employees
- Identifying problems before they become bigger issues
- Helping management develop and improve policies, procedures, systems, and daily routines
- Bringing new ideas, creativity, and practical solutions to improve the daycare experience for our dogs, clients, and employees
- Holding coworkers accountable while maintaining a respectful and positive workplace
The Person We're Looking For
We want someone who is comfortable taking the lead. You should be able to walk into a busy environment, assess what needs to happen, organize the team, delegate effectively, and follow through.
The ideal candidate is:
- Experienced in professional dog daycare operations
- Experienced supervising and managing employees
- Confident and decisive without being disrespectful
- Highly dependable and punctual
- Organized and able to multitask
- Comfortable creating and managing staff schedules
- Knowledgeable about canine behavior and group play
- Excellent with clients and customer service
- Able to handle difficult conversations professionally
- Creative and willing to suggest better ways of doing things
- A strong problem solver
- Comfortable giving direction and holding team members accountable
- Willing to work hands-on alongside the team—not simply supervise from the sidelines
- Passionate about providing exceptional care for dogs

Required Experience:
- Professional doggy daycare experience: Required
- Supervisory or management experience: Required
- Staff scheduling and team leadership experience: Strongly preferred
- Professional customer service experience: Preferred
