Associate Veterinarian – Part-Time General PracticeJob Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our general practice veterinary team on a part-time basis, approximately 1–2 days per week.
This position is focused on companion animal medicine, preventative care, diagnostics, and outpatient case management. No surgery is required for this position.
We would appreciate a veterinarian who is available to work every other Saturday, but Saturday availability is not a requirement for the position. We are happy to discuss scheduling and work with the right candidate to develop a mutually beneficial schedule.
The ideal candidate enjoys building long-term relationships with clients and their pets while providing high-quality, individualized medical care. You will be responsible for wellness and sick visits, diagnostic workups, treatment planning, preventative medicine, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions.

Schedule

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations for wellness, preventative care, and sick visits.
- Diagnose and manage common medical conditions affecting dogs and cats.
- Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans based on each patient's needs.
- Perform and interpret routine diagnostic testing, including bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, cytology, and other in-house and reference laboratory testing.
- Recommend and interpret diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, when appropriate.
- Provide preventative healthcare, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutritional counseling, and age-appropriate wellness recommendations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including dermatologic, gastrointestinal, urinary, endocrine, respiratory, and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Provide appropriate outpatient urgent and same-day care within the capabilities of a general practice setting.
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with current veterinary standards and applicable regulations.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, preventative care, and follow-up recommendations.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely electronic medical records.
- Work collaboratively with veterinary technicians, assistants, client service representatives, and other veterinarians.
- Recognize cases requiring specialty or emergency care and provide appropriate referrals when indicated.
- Practice in accordance with professional, ethical, and medical standards.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school, or equivalent degree with appropriate eligibility to practice in the United States.
- Current veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain licensure in the applicable state.
- Strong foundation in small-animal general medicine and preventative healthcare.
- Comfortable evaluating and treating both routine wellness patients and sick patients.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient approach to animal handling and client communication.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a veterinary healthcare team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining accurate medical records and high standards of patient care.

Position Focus
This position is primarily focused on general practice medicine for dogs and cats, including wellness care, preventative medicine, sick visits, diagnostic workups, chronic disease management, and outpatient medical treatment.
There is no surgical requirement for this position. Veterinarians who prefer to focus their clinical work on appointments, diagnostics, internal medicine, preventative care, and client communication are encouraged to apply.
