Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Office Phone Operator to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency in managing multiple phone lines and administrative tasks. The successful applicant will demonstrate a keen attention to detail, confidentiality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and courteously, directing calls efficiently to appropriate clinics or personnel.
- Schedule patient appointments using our EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system.
- Verify insurance information.
- Collect accurate patient demographic information and medical information while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Manage medical records filing, documentation review, and ensure proper documentation of patient interactions in EHR.
- Provide coverage for the front desk when needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, appointment schedules, and communication logs with attention to detail and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with clerical or administrative responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle high call volumes efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing medical records, filing systems, and appointment scheduling.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
