Dietary Aide

Work Environment:
This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment, where you'll work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.
Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation: Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines, following standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Food Service: Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring that meals are presented attractively and at the appropriate temperature.
- Dietary Compliance: Adhere to residents' dietary restrictions and preferences as outlined in their care plans, maintaining accurate records of special dietary requirements and reporting any deviations.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety protocols, performing regular cleaning of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Communication: Report any changes in residents' conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor in a timely manner.
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by checking and storing food supplies, reporting any shortages or expired items to the Dietary Manager.
- Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, addressing any food-related concerns or preferences they may have.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other dietary staff, nurses, and caregivers to ensure seamless meal service and address any resident needs.
- Compliance: Follow all facility policies, health regulations, and safety procedures, completing mandatory training and attending meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is a plus but not required, on-the-job training will be provided.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and capability to handle hot and cold food items.
Skills:
- Basic understanding of food preparation and safety procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
