Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Business Development Representative (BDR) to join Natural Gas Intelligence, a leading provider of natural gas data, news and insights in North America. Pivotal in driving new business, the primary focus for the BDR is generating and qualifying leads. They are accountable for developing strategies to identify prospective clients, understanding customer needs and how NGI’s products can meet those needs, driving value and empowering new sales. This role is ideal for motivated, curious candidates interested in launching their careers in sales, business development, client relationship management, or the commercial side of the energy industry. You'll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, growing industry.

Location: Houston, hybrid; 3 days in office (Galleria) / flex 2 day
Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 40 hours a week role. You will work on longer-term projects as well as tasks with specific schedules and deadlines. NGI team members generally work from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. local time. You can work out your schedule directly with your manager.
Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to the Head of Sales, working closely with the commercial department, including sales, customer service and marketing.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead generation

Generate a robust pipeline of subscription sales opportunities through effective outbound prospecting strategies including outbound calling to target lists, sending strategic emails and messaging via social media campaigns

Research and identify potential clients in the natural gas industry and adjacent markets

Identify,qualify, and manage leads according to customer needs

Understand buying behavior, perform needs analysis and identify which NGI services are the most appropriate fit

Tailor effective messaging to unique buyer personas, clearly communicating value drivers

Create and maintain target prospect lists
New business development

Engage and message prospects through phone, email, social media, networking and marketing

Initiate contact with potential clients to understand their needs and introduce NGI services

Present and demonstrate our natural gas information services to prospects

Understand competitive offerings and market positioning to effectively differentiate NGI’s services

Develop customized proposals and solutions based on client requirements
-
Connect with customers in a range of external networks and virtual environments
-
Network with the energy market and corporate groups to build relationships that open access to potential sales

Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align strategies and achieve collective goals

Respond to all inbound leads and complete tasks in a timely manner
Driving sales through insightful customer data

Utilize prospecting tools to discover more information about prospects and capture data effectively and efficiently

Generate customer data that enables team members to close subscription sales

Manage and update the CRM system with accurate prospect and client information

Track interactions and follow-up activities to ensure effective lead management and sale empowerment

Utilize CRM data to analyze sales trends and identify opportunities for growth

Provide regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status, and results
Required Skills:

0-3 years of experience in prospecting for new business

Proven ability to research potential clients and markets

Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

High capacity for multi-tasking, balancing multiple priorities concurrently
Preferred Skills:

Proven experience with data management, CRMs and prospecting tools, such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Surfe and Apollo

Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, business administration

Ability to analyze and understand market opportunities

Knowledge of the natural gas market and the role of price reporters

Experience in data, financial and/or subscription sales
Compensation: Your On-Target Earnings (OTE) will be ~60% base salary and ~40% commission. Our commission plan is uncapped and rate-based. Under this plan, your commission is calculated as a percentage of revenue generated from eligible sales. Additionally, NGI offers a generous benefits package detailed below.
