Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Solder Technician to join our production team. In this hands-on role, you will perform precision soldering and rework on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electronic components, supporting both surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole (PTH) processes. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing consistent, high-reliability work that meets stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision hand soldering, desoldering, and rework on through-hole and surface-mount components in accordance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Assemble, modify, and repair printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electro-mechanical assemblies per engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Inspect solder joints and completed assemblies under magnification to verify workmanship quality and identify defects.
- Perform fine-pitch, BGA, and small-component rework as required.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and work orders.
- Operate and maintain soldering stations, rework equipment, and related hand tools; follow ESD-safe handling procedures at all times.
- Document work performed and report quality issues or process improvements to production leadership.
- Support production goals by meeting throughput and quality targets on assigned jobs.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in both through-hole (PTH) and surface-mount (SMT) hand soldering and rework.
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards (certification a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and the ability to work under magnification for extended periods.
- Familiarity with ESD-safe practices and handling of sensitive electronic components.
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
ITAR / U.S. Person Requirement
This position requires access to information and technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by ITAR (22 CFR § 120.62) — i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or a protected individual under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Candidates must be able to provide documentation confirming U.S. Person status. Employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification.
- Experience in an AS9100 / aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Experience with BGA and fine-pitch rework.
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
