Research Metal Industries, Inc. is a precision aerospace manufacturer seeking an experienced Senior Tool & Die Maker to support our machining operations. This position is responsible for building, repairing, maintaining, and improving precision tooling, fixtures, dies, and other custom tooling used in the production of close-tolerance aerospace components.

Responsibilities
- Build, repair, maintain, and improve tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and other custom tooling.
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, EDM equipment, surface grinders, and manual machine tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
- Modify or optimize CNC programs as needed to support tooling and fixture work.
- Inspect parts and tooling using precision measuring equipment while maintaining close tolerances.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling and machining issues to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and CNC Programming to develop practical tooling solutions and continuous process improvements.
- Recommend tooling, fixture, and manufacturing improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized toolroom while following all company safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Tool & Die Maker experience in a precision manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC machining, EDM, manual machining, and toolroom equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Proficient with micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software is preferred.
- Welding, fabrication, and fixture design experience are a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
