Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable employee who can learn to be a great Cheesemonger to join our team. Past experience in gourmet food/ cheese industry is a plus! In this role, you will be responsible for curating an understanding of artisan cheeses, providing outstanding customer service, and sharing your expertise with customers to enhance their cheese experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in food preparation and safety, along with a love for culinary goods.
Duties
- Assist customers in selecting cheeses that suit their tastes and preferences.
- Provide detailed information about various cheese types, including flavor profiles, origins, and pairings.
- Maintain the cheese display to ensure freshness and visual appeal.
- Adhere to food safety standards and regulations while handling and preparing cheese.
- Make food to order such as grilled cheese and charcuterie boards.
- Utilize knife skills for cutting and portioning cheeses accurately.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to manage stock levels effectively.
- Engage with customers to educate them on cheese-related topics, enhancing their overall experience.
- Learn how to pair wine and up sell products that pair with cheese
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential.
- Familiarity with various cheese types are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Pay: $12.00 - $30.00 per hour
