Medical Billing and Coding Job Responsibilities:
Generates revenue by posting charges for providers, verifying ; monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts.
Medical Billing Clerk Job Duties:
- Ensures accuracy of coded procedures.
- Processes payments on accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients and posting transactions received telephonically
- Take payments over the phone and answer patient questions about their bills.
- Knowledge on posting insurance payments and understanding EOB.
- Knowledge of EFT's/ how to post to patient accounts.
- Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures; reporting compliance issues.
- Answer providers questions about proper coding.
- Maintains quality results by following standards
- Protects practice's value by keeping collection information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Serves and protects the patient community by adhering to professional standards, practice policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and joint commission standards.
- Enhances billing department and practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Medical Billing Clerk Skills and Qualifications
- Analytical Skills: Medical biller/coders must be able to read medical records and decide the best way to record those records so that they are logical and understandable.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is very important in medical records, for diagnosis, treatment and billing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Medical billers and coders work with doctors, nurses, insurance companies and other information techs to create medical records. Being personable and easy to work with helps.
- Technical Skills: Medical biller/coders often use specialized software to record medical information. Being able to quickly understand technology is necessary.
Experience: Dermatology or Nextech experience preferred
