Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments accurately using Dentrix dental practice management software
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, ensuring proper documentation review
- Collect payments and perform medical collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly
- Process intake forms, update patient information, and assist with office management tasks such as filing and data entry
- Assist with insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing procedures
- Support front desk operations by handling appointment confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and confidentiality protocols
Skills
- Proven experience in dental office or medical administrative support with strong clinic experience
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, and health information management systems
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing (including 10-key typing)
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy and completeness
- Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans
- Knowledge of dental terminology and clinic procedures related to intake and care plans
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
