American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience plus at least 1 year of travel experience.

Hospital-based Med/Surg Tele unit caring for a diverse patient population including GI conditions, blood loss and anemia, infections, renal patients, post-surgical GI patients, and cardiac monitoring patients across 10 telemetry beds
-
Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with the possibility of 1:7 during call-outs or high census periods

12-hour night shifts, 18:45–07:15 (3x12)

36-hour work weeks only

Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to other Med/Surg units/floors as needed

Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Telemetry experience preferred
-
13-week contracts; candidates interested in extensions beyond 13 weeks are welcome

Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered

IV insertion skills required

Must pass an EKG test prior to start

Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and will be placed at a different pay rate

Orientation is 36 hours, conducted weekly — no time off allowed during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
-
8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required; modules must also be completed annually
-
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; more than 7 days requires facility approval — no RTO is permitted after booking without facility approval

Previous permanent, PRN, or employee pool (EP) staff of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required

Scrub colors: navy and/or white

Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
