Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Front Desk team member to join our dynamic dental practice. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointments, and manage check-in/check-out procedures efficiently using patient management software.
- Assist dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside assisting with dental instruments, X-ray imaging, and oral surgery support.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive dentistry strategies.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, verifying insurance information, and managing billing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while supporting infection control standards across the clinic environment.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Open Dental or Dentrix for medical documentation and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, general dentistry procedures, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry.
- Experience with dental X-ray techniques, medical imaging, and dental equipment operation including 3D scanners.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management effectively.
- Excellent patient management skills with a focus on patient care, comfort, and clinical confidentiality policies adherence.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection control standards such as aseptic technique and medical documentation protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry combined with medical terminology for accurate communication within the team.
- Ability to support four-handed dentistry practices by assisting clinicians efficiently during procedures like endodontics or oral surgery.
- Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks at the front desk.
