Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings only, the dental assistant will do the polishing.
- Assistant will take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately while following infection prevention protocols.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental concerns.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing sensitive information securely.
- Support infection control practices by sterilizing dental equipment, practicing aseptic techniques, and managing infection prevention protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate patient care, review documentation, and ensure seamless clinic operations.
- Stay updated on dental terminology, medical coding, and current best practices in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
- Proven experience in dental office environments with familiarity using EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft.
- Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and medical imaging techniques.
- Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate diverse age groups, including pediatrics.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience in infection prevention management, aseptic technique application, and anatomy knowledge related to dentistry.
- A proactive attitude with strong organizational skills for documentation review, medical coding, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
