Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Travel Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to join our specialized healthcare team in Oklahoma. This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced nursing professionals to provide comprehensive endoscopic care across diverse clinical settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in endoscopy procedures, patient assessment, and advanced nursing practices, ensuring exceptional patient outcomes and safety throughout the travel assignment. As a Travel Endoscopy RN, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality care while adapting to various healthcare environments, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory surgery centers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by explaining the process, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic examinations such as upper GI, colonoscopy, and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs, sedation levels, and overall condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to any adverse reactions or complications.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Document all patient interactions, procedures performed, and clinical observations accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients and coordinate follow-up appointments as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and support staff to optimize patient care delivery.
- Adapt quickly to different clinical environments while maintaining high standards of nursing practice and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- One recent year of Endoscopy nursing experience and 2 years of RN experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
- Ability to apply nursing techniques effectively
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Basic computer skills
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Nursing from a board-approved program (preferred)
- Experience with moderate sedation, pre-op and recovery, and advanced endoscopy procedures (preferred)
