Position Summary:
The Housing Navigator helps individuals identify, secure, and maintain safe, affordable housing within their communities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, relationship building, and making a real impact in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teams in identifying housing options that meet their members' needs and preferences.
- Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and community housing resources.
- Provide guidance on housing applications, eligibility requirements, and subsidy programs.
- Support the team in overcoming barriers to housing, such as credit history, rental history, or accessibility needs.
- Collaborate with Housing Counselors and community partners to coordinate housing-related supports.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all contacts, referrals, and housing leads.
- Stay informed about local housing programs, rental market trends, and community resources.
Qualifications:
- Experience in housing, social services, or community resource coordination preferred.
- Knowledge of affordable housing programs (Section 8, WHEDA, HUD, Rural Development, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally for backup reasons
