Job Summary: The front desk clerk needs a friendly, organized, and professional demeanor to serve as the first point of contact for patients at our facility. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage administrative tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
This role is essential to ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for patients, while supporting the clinical and administrative staff with scheduling, check-in/out procedures, and accurate documentation. It is essential to be efficient and timely with patient information for processing scans, reports and insurance claim filing.
Days: Every Other Saturday and Sunday Hours; 8:00am to 8:00pm
Major Job Functions:
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous, professional manner.
- Verify and obtain patient identification and insurance information upon arrival.
- Obtain and update necessary forms, consents, and referrals.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and route calls/messages appropriately
- Collection of deductibles, copayments and/or any monies due on patient account and provide receipts
- In-put patient data for the creation of the patient account
- Assembling of patient information to be utilized by Technologists and Radiologists
- Notifies patients of delays, scheduling, rescheduling, etc. of their appointment
- Confirm upcoming appointments and provide patient with preparation instructions, as needed
- Coordinate with technologists and clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Address patient questions or concerns promptly and professionally
- Notify clinical staff of any schedule delays or special patient needs
- Practice cost-containment measures in all aspects of the facility
- Comply with the policy and procedures set forth by Eastern Radiologists, Inc.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.
Specifications:
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) required
- Experience: Prior medical office, insurance and collection experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance preferred.
- Certification/License/Registration: BLS/CPR required
- Position Titles and Number Supervised: None.
- Special Training/Skills: Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects. Ability to interact well on all levels. Must be courteous at all times with patients and interdepartmental personnel.
- Physical Demands: General vision, clear speech, hearing, reading, writing, standing, walking. May use some repetitive movements, bend, kneel or move or carry light objects.
