Wolverine Fuels, LLC produces high-quality, clean-burning coal sold to markets throughout the world. We are a highly competitive coal company serving the Western U.S. power generation industry and export markets. Based in Sandy, Utah, the company employs over 950 people and maintains an annual production capacity of 7–9 million tons of thermal coal.
The Production Supervisor provides direct leadership for an underground continuous miner section and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and productive mining operations on their assigned shift. This position coordinates personnel, equipment, and resources to meet production objectives while maintaining compliance with MSHA regulations and company policies.

Promote and enforce all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and established operating procedures.

Conduct workplace examinations and ensure hazards are identified, communicated, and corrected.

Lead by example and foster a strong safety culture among crew members.

Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions when needed.

Direct and coordinate all production activities on the assigned continuous miner section.

Monitor section performance and make operational adjustments to maximize productivity.

Monitor mining conditions and make operational decisions to maintain safe and efficient coal production.

Provide thorough shift turnover reports to ensure continuity between crews.

Monitor equipment performance and coordinate corrective actions when needed.

Maintain awareness of mining conditions, ventilation, and section readiness.

Ensure all production activities are completed in accordance with mine plans and regulatory requirements.
The Production Supervisor begins each shift by reviewing production objectives, workplace conditions, and crew assignments. Throughout the shift, the supervisor works closely with miners, equipment operators, maintenance personnel, and management to ensure the continuous miner section operates safely and efficiently.
When operational challenges arise, the supervisor quickly evaluates conditions, allocates resources, and makes sound decisions to support production targets while maintaining safety standards. At the end of each shift, the supervisor documents production results, communicates operational concerns, and provides a detailed handoff to the incoming crew.

Minimum three (3) years of underground coal mining experience.

Current Utah Underground Foreman Papers (MSHA Foreman Certification required).

Demonstrated knowledge of continuous miner mining methods and section operations.

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Ability to supervise and motivate crews in an underground mining environment.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
-
Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Previous supervisory or lead miner experience.
-
Experience supervising a continuous miner section.

Strong understanding of production planning and operational efficiency.

Working knowledge of underground mining equipment, ventilation, roof control, and mine safety systems.

Work performed primarily in an underground coal mine environment.
-
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces.

Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, varying temperatures, and underground mining conditions.

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and safely perform the essential functions of the position.
