The Service Operations Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all front-end operations, customer service functions, and administrative processes within the store. This position ensures exceptional customer experiences, operational efficiency, compliance with company policies, and achievement of sales, labor, and profitability goals. The Service Operations Manager leads front-end teams and administrative personnel while supporting overall store performance and execution.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop front-end and service operations associates.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and customer service excellence.
- Promote associate engagement and retention through effective leadership.
- Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Customer Experience
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently delivered.
- Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Promote a customer-first culture throughout the front end and customer service areas.
- Monitor customer service metrics and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Create a positive and welcoming shopping experience for all customers.
Front-End Operations
- Direct daily front-end operations, including checkout lanes, self-checkout, customer service desk, and related functions.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to meet customer demand and productivity goals.
- Monitor transaction accuracy, cash handling, and customer flow.
- Ensure adherence to company operating procedures and service standards.
- Support efficient execution of front-end processes and initiatives.
Administrative Operations
- Oversee administrative functions including cash office operations, scheduling support, reporting, and record retention.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in cash management procedures.
- Maintain required operational documentation and reporting.
- Support payroll, workforce management, and administrative processes as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding financial controls.
Financial Management
- Manage labor expenses and staffing productivity within assigned areas.
- Monitor front-end performance metrics and operational results.
- Support achievement of store sales and profitability goals.
- Assist in controlling shortages, cash variances, and operational expenses.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer service performance.
Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection
- Maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support asset protection initiatives and shrink reduction programs.
- Investigate and address operational and compliance concerns promptly.
- Ensure confidential information is handled appropriately.
Store Support & Operations
- Collaborate with store leadership and department managers to ensure operational excellence.
- Support execution of company programs, initiatives, and promotional events.
- Assist with store opening, closing, and manager-on-duty responsibilities.
- Serve as a member of the store leadership team and support total store operations.
- Assume additional leadership responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
