Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team dedicated to supporting construction, industrial, and agricultural operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on heavy equipment using electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics to identify issues accurately.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction machinery such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders.
- Service and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and air brake systems.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting to resolve operational problems efficiently and effectively.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Use power tools and specialized equipment for assembly, disassembly, repairs, and modifications.
- Diagnose electrical systems including wiring harnesses, sensors, HVAC systems, and electrical diagnostics.
- Assist in the calibration of equipment alignment and perform tire service or replacement when necessary.
- Maintain detailed service records and complete all documentation accurately for each repair or maintenance task.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and heavy equipment operation.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, schematics reading, and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Skilled in welding, fabrication techniques, tire service, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair procedures including transmissions and suspension systems.
- Familiarity with OEM specifications for various heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar or similar manufacturers.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation.
- Relevant certifications or technical training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment servicing is advantageous.
