Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Optometric Technician. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality patient care by performing pre-examination testing, conducting specialized vision assessments, and accurately entering patient information into our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring they are comfortable.
- Perform preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and conducting basic eye tests.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on contact lens care, eyewear options, and general eye health.
- Manage inventory of optical supplies and assist with retail sales of eyewear products.
- Provide support in medical coding for insurance claims as needed.
- Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area, including ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available.
- Track and report daily scheduling metrics.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

This role also requires you to train as a backup for the Front Desk, working with the staff and doctors to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. This includes handling calls, scheduling exams, checking patients in and out, updating contact information at each visit, and assisting with referrals. You will be expected to be able to assist as necessary.
