Job Purpose:
The Administrative Assistant primary responsibility is to facilitate the communications functions of the business office and provide clerical support.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Promotes the philosophy, mission and administrative policies of the Hospice by presenting a positive image.

Facilitates the communications system which may include mail distribution, phone system, memos, answers incoming calls and/or emails, documents, and disseminates appropriate messages.

Provides clerical support which may include preparation of admission, orientation, and new hire packets; monitoring and ordering office supplies and forms; computer support and data entry; special projects, filing, and copying.

Competently handle multi-line phone systems. Demonstrates understanding of system features.

Uses effective customer service skills when directing calls and assisting others.

Promotes effective communication with patients, families, team members, and other healthcare professionals, and maintains confidentiality.

Additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required. College preferred.

One year general office experience.
-
Excellent computer skills required.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Excellent phone skills.
-
Current driver’s license and valid auto liability insurance.

Reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:

Works in a routine office environment. Noise level may be moderately high.

The ability to work a flexible schedule and extended hours.

Ability to travel locally.
-
May experience exposure to unpleasant weather conditions.
-
Possible exposure to toxic materials, toner, etc.
Physical & Mental Requirements:

Requires prolonged sitting and standing.

The occasional need to lift, pull, carry, and push items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requires the frequent need to stoop, kneel, and reach while accessing files.

Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs.

Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Requires excellent problem solving skills.
