Lead Inventory Control for a Growing International Manufacturer
Atlas Filtri North America is the U.S. subsidiary of Atlas Filtri, a global manufacturer of water-filtration products and systems.
As our North American business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Inventory Control Manager to take ownership of inventory accuracy, strengthen inventory-control processes, and help improve the systems supporting our warehouse and supply-chain operations.
This is not simply a counting or inventory-adjustment position. Inventory accuracy directly affects product availability, order fulfillment, customer service, purchasing decisions, working capital, and our ability to support customers throughout the plumbing, water-treatment, and industrial-distribution markets.
The Inventory Control Manager will serve as the company’s internal leader for inventory accuracy. This person will have the visibility and authority to establish standards, investigate systemic problems, improve processes, train employees, and work directly with company leadership to build a stronger inventory-control operation.
Position Summary
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of inventory across Atlas Filtri North America’s warehouse and ERP environment.
The position combines hands-on warehouse involvement with inventory analysis, process leadership, ERP oversight, reporting, employee training, and cross-functional collaboration.
The Inventory Control Manager will develop and manage the cycle-counting program, lead physical inventories, investigate discrepancies, establish inventory-control procedures, and hold the organization accountable for accurate and timely inventory transactions.
The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, plumbing or HVAC wholesale, water treatment, or another inventory-intensive environment. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable reviewing physical inventory in the warehouse, analyzing data in Sage X3 and Excel, and presenting recommendations to leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Ownership
- Own the accuracy and integrity of physical and system inventory.
- Establish inventory-accuracy goals, standards, and performance measurements.
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve the cycle-counting program.
- Plan and lead annual physical inventories.
- Monitor inventory adjustments and ensure that adjustments are properly researched, documented, and approved.
- Identify high-risk items, locations, transactions, and processes requiring additional controls.
- Maintain accurate inventory across warehouse, staging, receiving, shipping, and other inventory locations.
Discrepancy Investigation and Root-Cause Analysis
- Lead investigations into inventory shortages, overages, mislocations, transaction errors, and recurring discrepancies.
- Identify the operational or system causes of inventory errors rather than relying solely on inventory adjustments.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring discrepancies.
- Partner with Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales to resolve inventory-related issues.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and report results to leadership.
ERP and Transaction Control
- Serve as the primary operational owner of inventory accuracy within Sage X3.
- Review receipts, shipments, transfers, adjustments, production or assembly transactions, and other inventory movements for accuracy.
- Establish procedures and controls for inventory-related ERP transactions.
- Identify transaction-timing, data-entry, and workflow issues affecting inventory accuracy.
- Work with internal and external system resources to improve inventory processes and reporting.
- Train employees on proper Sage X3 inventory transactions and reinforce transaction discipline.
Process Improvement
- Evaluate receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, shipping, transfer, and return processes from an inventory-control perspective.
- Recommend improvements to warehouse layout, product identification, location management, barcode scanning, and material flow.
- Document inventory-control policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Lead continuous-improvement projects that increase inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Apply root-cause analysis, Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies where appropriate.
- Help create scalable processes that support continued company growth.
Reporting and Analysis
- Develop and maintain inventory dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators.
- Track inventory accuracy, adjustment activity, count completion, discrepancy rates, aging, excess inventory, and other relevant measurements.
- Analyze inventory trends and communicate significant risks or opportunities to leadership.
- Work with Purchasing to support replenishment, availability, safety-stock, and excess-inventory decisions.
- Help identify slow-moving, obsolete, excess, and potentially constrained inventory.
- Prepare regular inventory-performance updates for management.
Leadership and Training
- Act as the company’s subject-matter expert for inventory control.
- Provide direction to warehouse and office employees during cycle counts, physical inventories, and discrepancy investigations.
- Train employees on inventory procedures, transaction accuracy, product identification, and inventory handling.
- Promote accountability for inventory accuracy across all departments that create or process inventory transactions.
- Provide constructive feedback when inventory procedures are not followed.
- Support the future development of an inventory-control team as the business grows.
- Supervise inventory-control personnel if and when positions are added.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years of inventory-control, warehouse-control, materials-management, or related experience.
- Experience owning or leading inventory-control activities in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or another inventory-intensive environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing or managing cycle-counting programs.
- Experience leading physical inventories and discrepancy investigations.
- Strong understanding of receiving, transfers, adjustments, picking, shipping, returns, and other inventory transactions.
- Experience using an ERP or warehouse-management system.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, filters, formulas, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence employees and departments even when they do not report directly to the position.
- Ability to communicate inventory performance, problems, and recommendations to company leadership.
- Ability to work regularly in a warehouse environment and perform hands-on inventory verification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Sage X3.
- Experience in industrial distribution, plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, filtration, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
- Experience with lot-controlled, serialized, or otherwise traceable inventory.
- Experience developing inventory KPIs and management reports.
- Experience with barcode-scanning or warehouse-management technology.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous-improvement methods.
- Experience with Power BI or similar business-intelligence tools.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or related certification.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, logistics, business, or a related field.
Equivalent practical experience will be considered. Candidates do not need to meet every preferred qualification to apply.
Authority and Accountability
The Inventory Control Manager will be authorized and expected to:
- Establish inventory-control procedures and counting schedules.
- Request recounts, transaction reviews, and discrepancy investigations.
- Direct inventory-related activities during cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Recommend corrections to warehouse and ERP processes.
- Escalate recurring compliance or transaction issues to department managers and company leadership.
- Recommend training, system, layout, staffing, and process improvements.
- Develop and report inventory-performance measurements.
- Hold process owners accountable for completing corrective actions.

- Improve the consistency and timeliness of Sage X3 transactions.
- Create meaningful inventory KPIs and recurring management reports.
- Improve inventory-related communication among Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service.
- Reduce order delays and customer-service problems caused by inventory inaccuracies.
- Strengthen inventory procedures, location controls, product identification, and employee training.
- Present a longer-term inventory-control improvement plan to leadership.

Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $78,000–$92,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Wallingford, Connecticut.
The position requires a combination of office-based analysis and active involvement in the warehouse. The employee must be comfortable walking through warehouse areas, inspecting product and storage locations, verifying inventory, observing operational processes, and working directly with warehouse employees.
