Job Summary
S&S Paving & Construction is seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction Laborer to assist with paving, grading, excavation, concrete, and general site construction activities. The ideal candidate will work as part of a crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. This position requires physical labor, the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and a strong commitment to teamwork and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with asphalt paving, patching, milling, and roadway construction projects.

Perform site preparation, grading, excavation, and cleanup activities.

Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.

Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

Assist equipment operators, foremen, and other crew members as needed.

Set up and maintain traffic control devices and work zone safety measures.

Shovel, rake, compact, and spread asphalt, gravel, and other materials.

Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment.

Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Perform general labor duties and other tasks assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous construction, paving, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.

Ability to read and follow instructions and safety guidelines.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and attendance record.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Valid driver's license preferred.

CDL is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.

Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and wet weather conditions.

Ability to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends as project demands require.
Working Conditions

Primarily outdoors at construction and paving job sites.

Exposure to moving machinery, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.

Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
