RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated Preschool Resource Paraeducator to support students with disabilities and developmental delays in our preschool program. This position plays an important role in helping young learners develop academic, communication, social-emotional, and self-help skills while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
REPORTS TO: Building Director and Classroom Teachers
SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $16.56/hour (depending on experience) on Classified Hourly Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 165 days
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Preschool Resource Paraeducator provides instructional, developmental, and personal support to preschool-aged students with disabilities and developmental delays. Working under the supervision of licensed staff, the Resource Paraeducator assists students in accessing educational opportunities, developing age-appropriate skills, and achieving Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals within inclusive and special education preschool settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Support
-
Assist students individually and in small groups with learning activities and classroom instruction.

Reinforce lessons, concepts, and skills introduced by teachers and service providers.

Support implementation of student IEP goals and accommodations.
-
Assist students with communication, social-emotional development, fine motor, gross motor, and pre-academic skills.

Support students during classroom routines, transitions, centers, meals, recess, and other school activities.
-
Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources as directed.
Student Support
-
Encourage student independence while providing appropriate levels of assistance.
-
Assist students with self-help skills, including toileting, dressing, feeding, and hygiene, as needed.
-
Foster positive peer interactions and social development.

Monitor student safety throughout the school day.
-
Support inclusion opportunities within the general education preschool environment.
Data Collection & Documentation
-
Collect and maintain data on student progress toward IEP goals as directed.
-
Document observations and student performance accurately.
-
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
Collaboration
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and families.
-
Participate in team meetings and training opportunities as assigned.
-
Communicate concerns regarding student needs, progress, or safety to supervising staff.
Professional Responsibilities
-
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policies.

Participate in required district trainings and professional development.
-
Follow district policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
-
Successfully pass the Work Keys test (through the Workforce Center) for Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing. (unless candidate holds an Associates Degree or higher)

Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Experience working with children or youth

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Qualifications Preferred but not Required:

Hold an Associate's Degree or higher

Experience working with students with disabilities

Knowledge of behavior support strategies

Experience in a school or classroom setting
