SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Are you a strategic finance leader ready to make a measurable impact? Coastal Community Action Program located in Aberdeen, WA is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to join our passionate nonprofit dedicated to social services in Homeless housing supports, Workforce development and job support placement services, Low Income Transportation supports, In Home Care, and Senior Nutrition Programs in multiple counties in Western Washington. POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller is an Exempt position. The Controller will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to support general accounting business functions. CCAP is mainly grant funded and follows grant accounting guidelines. The primary duties include managing other accounting team members, day to day accounting tasks, accounts receivables through accounting software and other programs, daily bookkeeping, data entry and record keeping, and bank reconciliations. This position will provide timely, proactive and professional customer service to all internal and external customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee Staff Accountants and other employees as assigned
2. Assist in monitoring internal controls compliance and company policy compliance
3. Follow and implement grant accounting processes for recording, tracking and reporting on funds received from grants to ensure compliance with donor restriction.
4. Manage restricted and unrestricted funds, allocating costs by program, preparing for audits, and ensuring transparency.
5. Prepare monthly bank statements
6. Balance sheet account reconciliations
7. Assist and provide support with other projects such as budgets, general ledgers review, financial report preparation
8. Produce recurring financial reports to be shared with Program Directors
9. Work on AP, AR, And all other GL related items
10. Produce Ad hoc reports as requested
11. Oversee all daily financial and accounting operations; Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), payroll, program costs, etc.
12. Be able to analyze financial accounting system and develop efficient accounting policies and procedures.
13. Mentor, train and develop staff as required on financial and accounting management systems, policies and procedures
14. Work with Asset and Maintenance Director on company owed assets and inventory control of small tools and supplies.
15. Provide back up support for all accounting system cycles.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Proficient in using account systems, technology and financial reporting. Abila’s MIP experience preferred.
2. Proficient knowledge of Grant Accounting and program allocations.
3. Proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
4. Proficient knowledge of business software systems including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Google Docs.
5. Uses Critical thinking to find solutions for problems.
6. Highly organized and detail oriented.
7. Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 3-5 years of experience in the accounting field at a higher level
· Demonstrated ability to analyze, document and implement process improvements within the accounting department
· Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
· A CPA certification would be preferred.

LOCATION/WORKING HOURS: Corporate office in Aberdeen, WA. Monday-Friday, normal business hours for the most part.

Pay: $91,062.00 - $115,543.00 per year
