Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve our production safety, quality, and flow. In this role, you will develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet world-class safety and Six Sigma quality. A key part of this role is ensuring that customer specifications are accurately translated and flowed down to the shop floor, so that production consistently meets requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and workflows to meet safety, quality, cost, and throughput targets.
- Lead the introduction of new products and processes into production, including process validation, work instructions, and operator training.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce cycle time, minimize scrap, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFMEAs, control plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, root cause analysis).
- Implement robust processes to meet Six Sigma quality levels (5.00σ) through a continuous-improvement focus.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues on the production floor and implement effective, sustainable solutions.
- Support capital equipment planning, cost estimating, and return-on-investment analysis for process improvements.
- Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and applicable regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001 / AS9100 / IATF 16949, as applicable).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline.
- [2–5]+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and automation (experience in wire/cable, conductor, or similar continuous/process manufacturing is a plus).
- Experience with process documentation tools (PFMEA, control plans, SOPs, work instructions).
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine vision and automated inspection systems for in-line quality control.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Experience introducing new products (NPI) into a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems.
- Experience in wire and cable manufacturing (e.g., drawing, stranding, extrusion, insulation, conductor processing) or a similar process-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience in [aerospace / electronics / precision manufacturing] or a regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, or industrial automation.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
