Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and anatomy.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and coding, while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Perform vital signs checks as needed and assist with chairside duties during various dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Utilize dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Experience with 3D scanners is an advantage.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is beneficial for working with younger patients.
