Job Summary
SMC Global a top chemical supplier in North America is looking for a CLD Driver in Houston area. We offer a career position with stability and predictability. This position is safety bonus eligible. Starting salary up to 90K.
Summary:
This position offers diverse runs. We anticipate this position will be 50% 2-3 day regional runs throughout Texas and surrounding areas. These runs will vary between Texas, the Southeast region of the US and even parts of Iowa, Nevada, and West Virginia. This position allows you to sleep at home on weekends, runs are typically 2-3 nights, depending on the business need for the week. There are occasional 5-day maximum trips that are required at times based on business needs. If a 6th night is required, overtime will be paid. We provide generous per diem of $80 for each night out and safe driving quarterly bonuses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete a daily truck log and submit reports of mileage covered at EOD
Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately
Manage routes and routines so they proceed in the most efficient way possible
Find ways to conserve resources, including fuel, to benefit the business
Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public
Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
Follow all applicable traffic laws
Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver with knowledge of route driving.
- Proficient in DOT and FMSCA safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
