The Long Term Recovery Group of Santa Cruz County (SCCLTRG), is seeking a Disaster Services Coordinator to join our team in Ben Lomond, CA. This is a full-time, limited-term (September through December) position offered at $27.00 per hour.
Our mission is to facilitate the coordination, communication, cooperation, and collaboration necessary for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resiliency for individuals and communities across Santa Cruz County. We support households impacted by major local disasters—including the 2020 Lightning Complex Fire and 2023 Atmospheric Rivers—through Disaster Case Management, Volunteer Rebuild, and VOAD Coordination programs.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Disaster Services Coordinator oversees day-to-day program implementation, client services oversight, and team leadership, including direct supervision of two California Emergency Response Corps (CERC) service members.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor CERC members, providing regular guidance, task delegation, coaching, and support.
- Set clear daily priorities and goals aligned with SCCLTRG's mission and client recovery objectives.
- Conduct weekly check-ins to review case progression, resolve technical roadblocks, and provide technical guidance.
- Keep CERC members and staff updated on available community resources, referral pathways, and agency protocols.
- Review client unmet needs requests and approve financial assistance when internal aid resources are available.
Client Services Oversight:
- Oversee the intake and long-term case management process to ensure disaster-impacted households receive timely, empathetic support and appropriate referrals.
- Ensure accurate, timely data entry into VisionLink and other relevant case tracking platforms.
- Manage direct client services for complex cases or crisis situations as needed.
- Work with leadership to identify recovery trends, service gaps, and community outreach needs.
Operational Excellence:
- Collaborate with SCCLTRG leadership to ensure program compliance and contract deliverable targets are met.
- Assist in completing required statistical, operational, and fiscal reports accurately and on time.
- Promote preparedness, mitigation, and long-term recovery efforts across Santa Cruz County.
- Support community outreach and organizational fundraising efforts as needed.
What You'll Bring
- B.A. in Health & Human Services, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
- Case management experience in social services or community-based organizations.
- Experience supervising or coordinating staff, volunteers, or team members (experience with CERT or emergency volunteers is a plus).
- Previous experience in disaster relief, emergency response, or VOAD networks is strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong active listening abilities.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and database/CRM management tools (VisionLink experience is a plus).
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in fast-paced, high-stress, or crisis situations with frequent interruptions.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License and proof of current auto insurance.
- Clearance of a fingerprint background check.
- Physical capability to stand/be active for 2–3 hours at a time and occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as operational needs require.
Working Conditions & Benefits
- Primarily office-based in Ben Lomond, CA, with occasional local travel for meetings, site visits, and outreach events. One virtual day per week.
