Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support the kitchen team with food preparation tasks such as assembling rolls, portioning ingredients, and following recipes accurately
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with food safety standards
- Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, rice cookers, and refrigeration units
- Help with food handling procedures to ensure proper storage and freshness of ingredients
- Follow menu planning guidelines to ensure consistency in dish presentation and portion sizes
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service times while adhering to safety standards in production
Experience
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Familiarity with dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, especially related to food handling and safety protocols
- Knowledge of food industry practices such as recipe adherence, meal preparation, and catering experience is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and follow instructions accurately
- Basic culinary experience including knife skills, slicing techniques, and food safety management is highly desirable
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
