Neuville Coach, a school bus contractor and charter bus company in Lapeer, seeks daily route and trip drivers. We have two open daily route position available. These assignments pay 7 to 8 hours daily, depending on the route, and are a split shift typical of school bus driving. Hourly rate for the route assignment is $26 per hour for a 180-day school year. Extra trips are paid at $24 per hour. The buses park in Lapeer, but the route is in Oakland County. We will consider remote Oakland County parking for a candidate that lives in that region.
Requirements:
- Class B CDL with P and S endorsements and not restricted from air brakes
- Michigan Department of Education certificates of Beginning School Bus Driver Training or Continuing Education, as applicable.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Ability to obtain DOT medical certification
- Eligible to work in schools based upon Livescan fingerprinting results
We are willing to provide paid training for these credentials for the right candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus following all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport students to and from school and other activities in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe bus environment for passengers.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
- Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and excellent customer service skills while interacting with passengers.
The buses park in Lapeer, but if interested candidates reside in Oakland County (where some of our routes operate), alternative arrangements will be considered to provide a shorter commute. We also welcome more trip drivers for field trips and athletics. Trip driver hours will ebb and flow with the sports seasons, ranging from 20-40 hours per week.
